In thinking about what it means to be a book with images, I found two lovely artists. The first is Shu-Ju Wang, who made this very interesting book entitled, “S/N” or Signal-to-Noise.
This book is in response to the many miniaturized technologies in our culture. On the pages, she has Gocco printed audio waveforms from a recording of her reading, which is such an interesting response to the idea of imagery still speaking in a book.
The second book artist I found is Mila Furstova, who’s medium is etching. Her artist statement says that her work is inspired by personal and universal mythologies. This is certainly seen in “Eternity.”
I love that the ocean imagery seems to continue beyond the frame of the book. This work is from a series called Venice Diaries.
