Soft Covers

Searching around for soft forms, I came across this:

It’s a Danish handmade book dating back to 1550. I actually have no idea how it’s bound, but I love the form of it. Even from just this one picture, the amount of time and level of effort put into this book is apparent.

I also came across a chapbook produced in collaboration between poets and designers. Apparently, the poets were given old woodblocks from a print studio in Nashville which they then used as inspiration to write poems. The poems were then given to designers who tried to develop a chapbook inspired by the poems.

  1. Wow, 1550. It’s beautiful! The caligraphy and the irregular margins only add to the unique shape of the book. nice find!
